True Blood on the cover of the Rolling Stone

I'm probably not the only one that didn't find the recent teen-vampire romance movies either attractive or entertaining. Those vampires were just too vanilla. Too designer sculpted to be appealing to an audience of adolescents.

Okay, so here's the180-degree flip of the compass: the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, with three hot bods and a bucket of blood. That's Anna Paquin (from X-Men), her fiance Stephen Moyer (with the strategically placed hand), and co-star Alexander Skarsgard.

Right. Why didn't we think of this before? You get Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas and Winona Ryder in a studio, lay down half a dozen garbage bags -- those big orange ones, big enough to pack half the garden after you've been busy with the weed whackers and chainsaws), and two buckets of blood, and you chuck the buckets over them.

Uh huh. Notice how none of the blood got on Anna's makeup, or in her hair? Now, if we could only figure out how to chuck two (or three) buckets of blood all over Brad, Antoni and Winona, and keep it out of their hair, and off their faces...

Want more on this? Indulge yourself right here.

I have one more question to ask. Who cleans the floor when the session's finished and the rest of the crew have gone home?

Brendan's back! But I doubt he'll be looking quite like this in his new movie...

Brendan Fraser is back on the big screen in a new fantasy movie -- heavy on the CGI and thick with thrills, chills, spills, one would imagine, with a thumnail sketch like Inkheart: "he plays a book collector with a magical ability to bring famous literary characters to life by merely reading their stories aloud. When his wife disappears into a rare, out-of-print book, he and his daughter (Eliza Hope Bennett) set out to find a copy and bring her back to the real world. (Want more? Go right to The Sunday Paper.)

Now, why couldn't he have gotten himself involved in a Mel Keegan novel?! Well ... maybe not for a family movie, I guess. But you can dream, right? Speaking of which --

There's some serious talent out there in cyberpace, boys and girls, and some of it's dialled in on Brendan, and a swag of it could have popped right out of something Mel Keegan might have written! Got your doubts? Try this one on for size -- and once again, if anyone has a credit and a back link, let me know, I'd be thrilled to post both ... if only to encourage the artists! Grab your hat -- here we go, now:

Now, this what I call art. Fine art. You got a problem with what?

While we're here -- have you seen the Inkheart trailer? It's been circulating for a looong time, but the movie is right around the corner now:

Divine streaker with wings on heels

Give this commercial an award. Seriously. Is there a photo-art version of the Oscar, the Emmy, the Bafta? This piece deserves it:

Could be part of a collaction that's been touring cyberspace for a while now, the "mythic gods" collection of semi-photo, semi-art. This gentleman would be Mercury, messenger of the gods ... and do the old eyes deceive or would it be fair to say he bears a more than passing similarity to Brendan Fraser?? Full marks to whoever's behind this one. (If you would like to give me a credit and a back link I would be delighted to post both!) What a beauty shot. And let's stay on the subject of Brendan Fraser for a bit...

Who wants to be a soccer ball when they grow up?

You've heard of wanting to be a soccer player when you grow up, but ... who'd like to be this soccer ball?!

There's a story attacked to this picture. I'm NOT going to give you the link back to the page it came from because that page is very, very explicit and a few gentle readers might not be quite ready just yet for what'll slap you in the face when you get there (!) ...

But -- the story that goes along with this picture? As you may know, in order to meet with legal requirements, all pictures on website pictures are supposed to carry ALT tags in the code, which are translated by braille systems and text to voice readers, so that blind surfers can follow content. Good idea?

Great idea. However --

The ALT tag on this one (it pops up looking like a yellow sticky note when you hover over the pic; you know the ones) reads ... I kid you not ... "Angelina Jolie." True.

Jeepers, Ange, what've you done to yourself now?! And what the hell does Brad say about this?!

Jaye Davidson: one is tempted to say, "ra, ra!" But I'll contain myself!

Was watching the original movie of STARGATE the other night and got to wondering, "What the heck happened to Jaye Davidson, who played Ra, and who was way too gorgeous for his own good. I discovered that he got sick and tired of Hollyweird and the movie industry treating him like a freak, and went right back to the job he'd come from -- a fashion assistant. He just turned 40 in 2008.

And along the way, these pictures crossed my desktop and dropped the surfing action dead in its tracks:

There's no answer to that. Seriously.
